About Zuil
Latin and Greek, languages that carry.
Why Zuil
To many pupils Latin and Greek look like a wall of endings. Those who get stuck usually miss the system behind it or an example, not talent. Zuil shows that system: why a case exists, how an ending carries a function and where you still meet the words today.
Four blocks, always in the same order
Why, See it, Get it, Do it. Then the pitfalls, where you meet it in real life and a piece of history. Every topic shows what to know first and what comes next.
Exercises that never run out
A generator makes a new exercise every time from word lists: decline, conjugate, recognise the case, translate short sentences, write Greek in our letters, match roots. Every form comes from a declension and conjugation engine tested against tables written by hand. Long marks appear in the explanations, but you don't have to type them.
Who makes Zuil
Zuil is made by Neal Van de Velde (nealvdv), who also made Draad, Ruit, Spoor and Toer. Questions, mistakes or ideas are always welcome.
Calm and private

Every app has its own subject and its own face, with the same way of working: understanding over cramming, calm and without ads.
Where we come from
Zuil is made from a Christian conviction: every child is valuable, and learning the ancient languages is learning to listen to people from long ago. The New Testament was written in Greek and Latin became the language of the church in the West; if you want to read those texts, you find them in Draad. The subject matter itself is plain, honest Latin and Greek, and we tell the myths as stories of the Greeks and Romans.
