The present of λύω

λύω, I loosen: the model verb of Greek. Six endings tell who does it, just as in Latin: -ω, -εις, -ει, -ομεν, -ετε, -ουσι(ν).

1st stage12 to 14 yearsDraft: Not yet checked by a classics teacher.

Why

A Greek sentence has γράφομεν, with no I, you or we in front. How do you know who is writing?

As in Latin, the person is in the ending. -ομεν means we: γράφομεν is we write. No separate word for we is needed.

Know the six endings of λύω and you can read almost any ordinary Greek verb in the present: γράφω (to write), λέγω (to say), ἔχω (to have), ἀκούω (to hear).
